CHARLESTON REVERIE
‘The artistry and colourful style of the Bloomsbury set and the beauty of their home at the Charleston Farmhouse was the starting point of this collection. Their mix of art and style combined with a strong sense of female power is a beautiful reflection of the Dea Kudibal world and still has great relevance to today’s woman.’

SPRING 25
A melting pot of hugely talented artists, thinkers and writers, the Bloomsbury Set were also known for their innovative style, both in the way they dressed and in the way they decorated their homes. Nowhere was this more apparent than in Charleston Farmhouse, their countryside retreat, and the eclectic mix of florals, paisleys and hand-painted motifs is a rich vein of inspiration for Dea Kudibal’s spring 2025 collection. Delicate blossoms - the first hint of spring after a long winter - are scattered across multi-tiered dresses with layers of frills and lace ribbon inserts whilst brighter flowers grow from the hem of a skirt. Bolder hand-painted floral prints reflect the bohemian style of the farm’s gardens and more delicate paisley shows elegant refinement, especially when rendered in a silk pyjama suit with wrap over blouse. Rich jewel shades of emerald and scarlet provide pops of colour against a moodier palette of soft blues, oyster grey and cloud white, resulting in the perfect introduction of spring into still chilly days.
Tailoring captures a sense of cool modernism with graphic black and white taking centre stage. A tailored double breasted blazer is paired with straight cut cargo pants for a touch of urban edge whilst a slouchy white blazer has a nonchalant attitude and is perfect for springtime layering. Floral jacquards make an unexpected and very stylish appearence in a longline waistcoat with tie belt and unwashed denim is elegant in a fitted pencil skirt or jumpsuit with brass buttons. Elsewhere, crisp poplin provides a chic contrast to the free flowing silks and linens in a versatile blouse with removable sleeves and ruffled trim on the collar and pockets. A white cotton dress with lace ribbon trim hints at the approach of sunnier weather as does a sleeveless dress in a bold blue flower print that has a exaggerated flounce running across the front and shoulder.

Nods to the Bloomsbury Set’s sparkling social life appear throughout the collection. An oversized broderie anglais is used in an unconventional navy blue for an elegant blouse and deeply pleated skirt or a more classic pure white for a long kaftan with daisy buttons: both perfect for an evening soiree. A floral print georgette dress with multiple frills and ribbon details is scattered with gold jacquard spots whilst a long silk dress with ruching and a deep leg split has a more sensuous allure. And, if the early spring evenings still have a chill in the air, why not match a voluminous floral skirt with a cosy textured cardigan, scattered with embroidered flowers, for the ultimate in relaxed chic. After all, the power to express individuality and creativity through art, design and clothing is something that links these pioneers of the past to the women of today.
