        Winter 24 Pre Spring 25

There is something very special about Venice after the sun has set: an air of mystery and delicate beauty hangs in the air with hints of nocturnal life evoked by the echo of steps in an empty plaza or music drifting from an open window. For Winter 24 / Pre Spring 25, DEA KUDIBAL explores the glamour and sophistication of this most magical of places with a collection that takes a woman through seasons, and from daytime chic to nighttime elegance whilst never losing sight of her personal sense of style.

Set against a backdrop of jet black and steel grey, highlights of flame red, burnt orange, champagne and empire blue provide sparks of jewel-like color. Signature prints conjure up memories of palazzos: a huge hand-painted paisley is reminiscent of lavish wall hangings whilst a graphic floral pattern hints at 1930s artwork. Elsewhere, smaller prints capture the intricacies of tiled floors or the fluid curls of wrought iron staircases. Tailoring takes center stage in this city landscape, be it in the form of a boxy double breasted suit with hand-stitching at the lapels or a chic boucle skirt suit with brass buttons. A relaxed jacket with a fringed tie belt at the waist is elegant in black satin and vibrant in velvet - especially when paired with matching slim pants - whilst the eternal allure of ‘Le Smoking’ is caught in either a tuxedo blazer with a taffetafrill bursting from behind a lapel or in a ‘suit’ that brings together high-waisted pants and a shoulder-baring shawl collar waistcoat.

Definition returns to shoulders this season with small pads giving a sharper silhouette on a ruched floral blouse or a corset-seamed dress. The stronger shapes continue with a clean-cut skirt that flares elegantly to the floor and a silk taffeta dress with sculptural flounces at the shoulder. A short baby-doll dress with detachable corsage or a long knitted lurex dress with scalloped edges offer alternatives in proportion and length. Texture also plays a strong role in the collection with oversized broderie anglaise gaining nighttime appeal in a jet-black dress with shell-like sleeves, a blouse with scarf neck or, unexpectedly, in a corset top. A cloqué gold jacket has a surface like gilded wood or has graphic style in a bold zig-zag jacquard skirt with dramatic tasseled belt. And for a true red-carpet moment, a floor length dress entirely encrusted in sequins, bugle beads and seed pearls has a show stopping impact. After all, a city as beautiful as Venice deserves the very best in style.
